Question: Rheem water heater vapor switch?

Our water heater wont work because we paintedthe floor and it tripped the vapor safety feature. can this be replaced or does the whole heater need to be replaces? will it reset itself if the fumes go away?

Try unplugging your heater for a couple of minutes and then turning the power back on
